Movies and music during the month of December is nothing but holiday inspired at my house. It's sacrelig to play anything else before Dec. 1 or after Jan. 1 so during this time, we go absolutely nuts. We have the regulars all lined up for the Christmas countdown watch but I'm also on the lookout for some new material. I've researched lists like this and this but was not impressed as they didn't even include Meet Me in St. Louis (don't even talk to me!). First, let me describe what I'm looking for: A Christmas Story, Home Alone, Love Actually, Elf, The Family Stone, Scrooged, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, White Christmas, the aforementioned MMISL, and It's a Wonderful Life (Christmas Eve only!). There are certain movies not about Christmas that still categorize as cozy classics for some, like Die Hard, Star Wars (played on TV every Christmas in Scotland when my boyfriend was a child), and Gremlins. I thought I was biased towards the old-school classics but I've been obsessing over newbies like The Family Stone and Love Actually (soundtrack gold) too. There are a few that I have yet to see, such as Miracle on 34th Street and Holiday Inn that have been slapped on the list but I need more suggestions!
What are your holiday favorites?
For me it's The Sound of Music...have to have it.
